As a professional dog trainer, you are aware of the need to carry liability insurance to protect yourself against lawsuits alleging bodily injury or property damage to others, including your clients and the dogs in your care/classes. But what about those injuries that you, your employees, or your subcontractors incur while on the job? Our agency has received a number of calls over the years from trainers that thought their training-related medical injuries were covered by their liability insurance, only to learn at the time of the claim that there was no coverage for injuries to themselves or anyone in their employ.

In 1992, Business Insurers of the Carolinas was approached by a leading pet sitter association to create insurance policies that would thoroughly cover pet sitters. Many of the insurance needs pet sitters require are unique to their profession and so we worked to create policies that would best fit their needs. Since then, we have continued to add and adjust as the industry has expanded and new insurance needs have come to light. Every pet sitter should do their research and search out the right insurance to fit their needs regardless of the company they choose for their coverage. It is with mixed feelings I must inform you that effective 12/1/2019, Business Insurers of the Carolinas will no longer be offering the PCA Employee Dishonesty Bond through Travelers Insurance Company/Travelers Bond. We have worked with Travelers Bond Department for over 17 years, and they have offered consistently good service and pricing on the PCA Bond Program. However, due to a required filing change in all states, Travelers was looking at a 40% increase in premium to a large majority of PCA members who currently carry a Bond, which was unacceptable. Therefore we agreed to part ways, but fortunately we were able to find two companies to replace Travelers in offering PCA members quality bonding coverage.
